October 7th, 2009 I have posted an article regarding recovering stolen mobile phones using cop@vsnl.net I am getting a lot of responses and comments on the post requesting me to recover their mobile phones by posting their mobile phone details like below.
So I have decided to post an article on this subject.If your cell phone is stolen, you can immediately contact to your service provider and give your cell phone’s 15 digit International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number to them which you should have noted before the theft.
Once you give the serial number of your cell phone service provider will immediately block your phone. Hence, cell phones would not work even if the thief changes the 
SIM card. In this case, you might not get your mobile phone back, but whoever has stolen it, can not use that mobile phone.
You can also call up the Customer Care helpline of your airtime provider and ask them to deactivate the SIM and inform the Police submit them the IMEI number of your phone
IMEI number is unique to each cell phone. To view the serial number of the mobile phone, one will have to press * # 0 6 #. You should store his/her mobile’s serial number at safe place.You can also look behind the battery of your phone to get this unique serial number
