Ubuntu Netbooks
August 18th, 2009 Posted in Ubuntu In the Netbook market, Ubuntu is the clear winner, with Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and the other hardware OEMs like ZaReason shipping Ubuntu-based Netbooks. But it’s not yet clear what “winner” means. Microsoft, after all, still apparently claims 90 percent of all Netbooks shipped with Windows.
Millions of users have already come to the consensus that Ubuntu is the most compatible, and thus, it’s the number one most popular Linux distribution, and is currently running on 25 % of all netbooks.

Moving Options inside a Select Box using Jquery
August 13th, 2009 Posted in Web 2.0 Using Jquery we can easily move or change the order of options inside an input select element. For eg consider the the following select box and we need to move the option element “other” to the end of the list or after the element “goa”

<option>Kerala</option>
<option>Other</option>
<option>Goa</option>
<option>Delhi</option>
</select>
We can use Jquery manipulation function like append, prepend, appendTo, prependTo, insertAfter,insertBefore for moving the options inside the select box.
Vaccination for H1NI or swine flu
August 11th, 2009 Posted in Our World The race to develop a swine flu vaccine is on. A day after the H1N1 influenza was declared a pandemic, there was heightened activity with Indian pharma majors like Novartis, GlaxoSmith
Kline and Sanofi speeding up plans to manufacture a vaccine that will immunize populations against the disease.
Indian vaccine majors like Serum Institute of India, Bharat Biotech and Panacea Biotec too are hoping to make a vaccine which can be administered as a ‘flu shot’ within six months.
More than 700 people have already died from the H1NI virus worldwide.
In Australia also a trials for the vaccine will be conducted on some 600 adult and child volunteers at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. They will be receiving two injections of the vaccine, three weeks apart.
Doctors will analyze the participants who have got both standard and increased dosage and look to find at what dose they develop an appropriate immune response. Melbourne-based CSL company will test the vaccine for the H1N1 virus.
Mozilla Jetpack – HTML Based Extensions
